I have been a teacher for 12 years in Title I schools in Phoenix, Arizona. I am endorsed as an ELD teacher. I am also the Sunday School/Youth Director of a small Episcopal Church in Phoenix. Most of my students at Church are from Africa--relatives of the Lost Boys and a family from the Congo.
I like to teach literature studies during reading centers. I hope that good books will encourage my students to be life long readers. Literature studies are another way to have students gain comprehension in an enjoyable way.

I have a B.S. in Business Management from ASU; a post-bac in Elementary Education from ASU West; and a Masters of Elementary Education from ASU West.
I love the Grand Canyon. Living in Phoenix, I am fortunate to be able to take my students there every year through a program the Rangers teach. It is offered by the National Parks. I raise the funds through tax credits from relatives and friends. I also have been able to receive a transportation scholarship from the National Park program. This is a wonderful experience for our Title I students. Many of them never leave the neighborhood they live in. Seeing the Grand Canyon opens their horizons and allows them to see the possibilites that exist outside their neighborhoods.
