I am starting my nineteenth year of teaching. I began my career in September 1999. My first job was working as a Reading Intervention Specialist with first and second grade. This was a rewarding experience, but only a half day position. The next year I transferred to a full time position teaching sixth grade Social Studies and Science. I have been in this current position almost 20 years. I have gained extensive knowledge of Middle School Social Studies and Science content while teaching both subjects to sixth and seventh grade classes.
In my Science and Social Studies classes I like to incorporate a great deal of active learning and project based instruction. I enjoy lessons that have real world experiences and try to incorporate them as often as possible.
