I have been teaching elementary students for 27 years. This includes first, second and third grade children. I am currently teaching, and loving first graders! I have spent almost 20 years of my summer vacations teaching enrichment and supportive classes to energetic learners. My teaching strengths are: reaching a wide range of ability, integrating technology, developing strong, supportive relationships, and modeling authentic passion for learning!
I enjoy acting as a role model by demonstrating skills and processes and then guiding students to develop and apply these skills and knowledge in relation to their individual needs and abilities. I encourage student participation and adapt my presentation to include various learning styles, or to reflect understanding. I believe strongly in the power of articulation and giving each child the opportunity to share his/her understanding frequently to solidify the learning.
I have recently been nominated for Nebraska Teacher of the Year.
I received my bachelor's degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. I have an endorsement in early childhood development. I have continued my education in a wide variety of classes with an emphasis on reading/language skills, curriculum, science, and technology.
I am a completely happpy wife, mom, and nana! I am very active in my church as a choir member, cantor, social media administrator, and teacher of children and adults. I love my maltese dog, Tucker! I am blessed with musical ability in singing, piano, and guitar! I taught piano lessons for 20 years to so many talented students! I love exercising, reading and spending time in nature.
