TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Hi all! I taught high school English for three years and am now teaching Composition and Rhetoric at the university level. Through it all, I have taught reading skills for literature and informational texts, writing skills for expressive and research-based assignments, grammar, and test prep. Many of my products are linked to Common Core State Standards and other college-readiness factors!

MY TEACHING STYLE

I challenge my students to become masters of the content matter. My units are based on collaborative and experiential learning. They also are designed to bring students outside of the classroom and make the subject pertinent to real-world experience!

I studied English Secondary Education and also received a minor in Spanish. Currently, I am earning my M.A. in English Linguistics. Through my studies, I have taken intensive courses on pedagogy and theory in the English content area.

As someone who taught high school English before going on to teach at the collegiate level, I know what students are expected to know before entering college. I love to help teachers and develop new, innovative, theory-based lessons. I am a faith-driven teacher who enjoys challenging students to go outside their comfort zones and pursue excellence!
