I've been crafting reader's theater for Scholastic classroom magazines such as Scope and Storyworks for almost twenty years, and I've authored three books on education through Scholastic. I've developed a reputation for creating compelling read aloud plays based on American History, Civil Rights, and classic short stories. I also earned my National Board Certification in 2004. When not teaching the intermediate grades in southern Oregon, which I've done since 1993, I spend my time playing basketball, backpacking, and pestering kids. The materials I create are designed to give my kids the most academically-rewarding and personally enjoyable school experience possible. Visit my school website at DailyPlatypus.org to see what kind of wild stuff is going on in my classroom. Most of my plays were previously published in Scholastic classroom magazines such as Storyworks, Scope, and Scholastic News. They're generally aimed at grades 4 through 6, but many can be used with third graders who are up for a challenge. Others, such as "Stolen Childhoods", "Cyclops", and "Freedom for the First Time," are quite suitable for older students such as 7th or even 8th graders. Be sure to download the previews if you're unsure. Thanks!
