TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Our experience is mostly in public elementary schools. Mr. Magers teaches First Grade and Mrs. Magers teaches Kindergarten. Mr. Magers also runs an FLL Robotics team and the PTA Reflections Art program. Mrs. Magers helps run the PTA in various executive positions and the Drama club. Our experience goes much further outside of the classroom though. Mr. Magers was the co-director of a gymnastics facility teaching fundamental fitness and ran a Special Olympics Program. He also taught for a STEAM-based teaching company that uses LEGOs to teach children from Duplo to robotics. Mrs. Magers was a caregiver for young children for many years working with children down to the infant level. She also teaches musical theater, having run a program for at-risk children based around puppet making. Both Mr. and Mrs. Magers have worked in various preschool settings including Montessori-based schools and creative arts-focused schools. We've both designed curriculum in all the places that we've worked helping make them more efficient and successful. Our goal is to do our personal best and share our experiences with others to help them grow as we have.

MY TEACHING STYLE

We believe that all teaching starts with the child and goes from there. Understand where they are coming from physically, emotionally, and intellectually and then work with where they are at, not where you'd like them to be. The best way to teach is to create a self-sustaining system that will work even on your worst day. You have to start with a good plan in mind, otherwise you are doomed to fail. You won't always rise to the occasion, instead you will fall to your level of preparation.
