I have been teaching to 7 years in the state of Georgia. I starting teaching kindergarten, then moved to first grade the following year. I thought first grade for the past 5 years and am currently teaching 2nd.
I am a very hands on teacher who hates using worksheets. My love for interactive notebooks helps me incorporate some hands on activities for students to store in their journals to use as a reference throughout the year. I use a lot of whole brain teaching in my classroom to incorporate more moving to add to the excitement of learning.
I have taken many professional developments on ways to enhance my teaching and ways to incorporate various learning styles. I have researched and attended webinars on whole brain teaching as well as ways to incorporate technology into your lessons. I have also been nominated several times for employee of the month at my school for showing great leadership skills and leading many professional development sessions.
I graduated with a bachelors degree in education from Valdosta State University. I also have my master's from Nova Southeastern University. I am certified to teach elementary education from prek-5th grade, as well as special education K-12. Recently I added the gifted certification to my certificate to be able to accelerate those students already mastering the standards.
