I have been living my life's passion as an elementary teacher for six years! During the initial years of my career I was a 3rd-5th grade self-contained Special Educator for students with mild to moderate learning disabilities. I absolutely loved the creativity and customized learning approaches working with this population afforded! After several years I continued to teach intermediate elementary grades, but switched to the General Educator position. I thoroughly enjoyed the transition, and my experience as a Special Educator prepared me for the challenges of differentiating content and my teaching style to meet the needs of all my learners. I am currently serving as an Instructional Lead Professional Development Teacher (yes, its a mouthful) for a k-8 academy, in which I coordinate professional development programs and teach intervention groups across a variety of grade levels. Although I occasionally miss the familiarity of a classroom, my new role allows me to engage with a larger spectrum of students, staff members, and professional development trainings and I love it!
I am passionate about creating a classroom culture that is student centered and differentiated to provide a custom learning that celebrates multiple styles and modalities of instruction and learning. My colleagues describe me as, "a bundle of energy" which I use to create a theatric atmosphere of investigation and fun in my classroom! You never know what you'll see or hear on the other side of my classroom door-but rest assured a.) we are meeting learning targets and b.) we will try to arrive on time for lunch!

I am a proud alumna of St. Mary's Public Honors College of Maryland, where I earned my Bachelors in Arts in English. After several years of teaching, I continued my post-graduate education at American University in Washington, D.C., where I earned my Master's of Education (M.Ed.) in Curriculum and Instruction with a minor in Educational Policy. This school year I am excited to begin National Board Certification in Reading.
I am newly married to my best friend, enjoy an assortment of hot teas and coffees alongside the company of a good book, the stillness of rainy days, a collector of whimsical mugs, have Type A "organization freak" tendencies, and an appreciator of the simple abundance of everyday life!
