This is my third year teaching for the Irvine Unified School District. I currently teach a 1st grade SEI (Structured English Immersion) class at Woodbury Elementary. Last year I taught a K/1 combination class. I have absolutely fallen in love with teaching first grade and I have always had an interest in teaching English Learners. It is an amazing feeling to positively contribute to the growth and development of my first graders throughout the year. Their progress and love for learning is the most rewarding part of my teaching experience.
I use a variety of EL strategies to meet the needs of my English Learners as well as all of my students. Visuals, manipulatives, TPR, vocabulary development, collaboration, discussion, and realia play a significant role in my teaching. My favorite subject to teach is science because I love to incorporate hands-on, inquiry based lessons for my students that allows them to discover and engage in learning.

I earned my Masters in Education in Curriculum and Instruction from CSU Fullerton. Additionally, I earned my CA Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from CSU Fullerton. I earned my Bachelor's in Liberal Studies (Elementary Education) at Chapman University where I also played on the Women's Soccer Team.
Prior to teaching full time, I worked at the Ocean Institute in Dana Point as an educational program instructor. Additionally, I wrote field trip lesson plans for teachers K-6 to implement in their classrooms. This experience strengthened my ability to teach science effectively using hands-on, inquiry based lessons to engage students in science education. It is here that I found my love for teaching and learning about science.
