In the past I have been a reading resource teacher for 3rd-5th grade students in a suburban area, a high school Algebra 1 and Geometry teacher in an urban setting, and most recently a 6th grade teacher that splits between two subjects. I have 6th grade math for part of my day and 6th grade English with a focus on special education students for the other portion of my day.
I am a very hands-on, visual teacher that enjoys helping students solve math from a real world perspective as much as possible. I also enjoy having students debate about math and solving problems from several different perspectives. My English teacher style is still evolving because I haven't had as much practice but I would like to think my style is still very tied to the real world and how I think students will engage with the written word and with their own writing as adults.
