TEACHING EXPERIENCE

My greatest professional accomplishments have been the success of my students and the continuous education that I attain and am able to share with others. Recently, I facilitated a professional learning opportunity on student centered learning and differentiation. My students consistently score in the distinguished learner category on the end of grade test. Almost all of my students scored in the 98th to 99th percentile. I always have some students who make a perfect score on the end of grade test. I love sharing the activities that I create and use with my students.. I believe students benefit by engaging in student centered activities and math discussions. Sharing different ways of solving a math problem is helpful to all students. In order to achieve this, I have the students work in partners or groups most of the time. When students explain their thought process to others, it not only helps others, but also allows for them to gain a deeper understanding themselves. Cooperative learning plus differentiation equals success for all. Not every student learns at the same rate and has the same abilities. Learning can occur at many different levels, and it is vital that all students grow as critical thinkers, problem solvers, and learners. I offer different levels of tasks and assessments to ensure success for all students and make myself available to help in any way possible. I will continue to research and create new and better ways of allowing my students to reach their full potential and am always seeking innovative ways to help students succeed in my classroom. Not only do I want them to be successful, but I want them to enjoy learning along the way. I model the importance of education by constantly furthering my education as well. I am proud to have earned a marketing degree, an early childhood education degree, a middle grades education degree, a master’s degree in early childhood education, a specialist degree in curriculum and instruction, and my gifted endorsement. I think of myself as the lead learner in the classroom.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I use a variety of teaching strategies in my class. Projects, games, and interactive activities are just a few of the strategies I use. Student centered activities and discovery lessons enable children to take ownership of their learning and remember what they have learned. DIFFERENTIATION IS KEY!!!!
