I have taught 6th through 11th grade Math, and also have experience working with children from K - College. I have been a Math teacher since 2005, and a school based teacher leader since 2013.
I like a good mix of hands on real life experiences integrating with some basics/drill/repetition. I believe that students must be exposed to both types of learning in order to really become mathematicians and not just DO MATH. Students now are more motivated by tasks that are engaging and meaningful, and by the way, these type of authentic tasks are more fun for the teacher as well!
