I teach English, Norwegian, Social Studies, Geography, History and Maths. I work at a small school that covers grades 1st-10th, and I work the entire range in different subjects.
My teaching style is definitely one that encourages pupil participation. I believe that in order to learn, you need to be active. Think, ask, talk, discuss, try and question. I also believe in the power of a friendly and no nonsense classroom management style.
The Norwegian educational system doesn't operate with honors/awards for teachers. Our recognition comes from the pupils and their parents, not to mention colleagues. :-)
I attended Høgskolen i Bergen (Bergen University College, Norway) and their study programme Teacher Education and Training 1-7. My bachelor's degree was on the topic assessment for learning (as opposed to assessment of learning). I am currently an undergrad working on my master's degree, working full time as a teacher at the same time.
I am 31 years old, and I live with the man of my dreams. We own a white house by the fjord, and you can actually see the famous Sognefjord from our livingroom windows. We just started a family here, our first son was born in March 2016. We look forward to our future here, in this peaceful place - a tiny village in the western parts of Norway. I work at the local school, and I'm loving it!
