TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I taught a 9th grade English class and a backstage theatre class for grades 9-12. I have also tutored 7th-12th grade students in English. For the past year, I have been working as a freelance writer for educational textbook companies, writing passages, plays, and poems. I have been involved in theatre for 15 years, doing primarily acting with a little bit of costume design. I have acted in community theatres and semi-professional theatres.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I would categorize my teaching style as creative yet structured. Each day, I would start the class with some audio-visual selection that related to the lesson. This was effective and fun for my classes. One of my 9th grade students said, "I love how you start class, as it really wakes me up." Then I would usually launch into a lecture or organized small group discussion, and then end with reading time/work time.
