This is a set of 5 documents created after I read the book, 'Igniting a Passion for Reading' by Steven L. Layne. These resources are intended for use by students in 3rd-6th grades. They work great when used in a reading binder in conjunction with

This is a pdf poster I made for my classroom to reduce the amount of confusion about where students will read during workshop time. I am going to use it with clothespins where they will be allowed to choose where they will read each day.

I made these labels to use in my reading corner and they have made a great addition to the space! They work well when attached to large baskets and make it very easy for the kids to find and put away books. There are 17 pages of labels (each label

This is a set of all lowercase letters in bright pink, green, and blue. When I used them in my classroom, I printed them on cardstock, laminated, and cut them out. Then I put a small magnet on the back and used them on my white board for students to

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

This is my first year teaching 3rd grade and I am really looking forward to it! I have spent the past 9 years in our school district working as a 2nd grade teacher, title one teacher, an interventionist, as well as a long term classroom sub (a few different times). I am also a professional photographer and love to create fun learning tools for my students using photoshop and Indesign.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I am a firm believer in the Daily 5 and have seen its benefits in my own children (one child who is an above average reader and one who is an average reader). They both love to read because they are given choice. I can't wait to use this with my students! Our school has adopted Steven Covey's Leader in Me program and I am interested to see how the seven habits are going to work for us in the elementary classroom.
