TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Thanks for stopping by my store! I have a close-up knowledge of early literacy, having helped over 100 children learn to read and write. I use this experience, along with my love of language and words, to create materials for beginning readers. My time as a reading specialist, Special Education teacher, and classroom teacher taught me to create simple materials with minimal distractions. MY TEACHING STYLE

My teaching approach is both highly structured and individualized. When lessons are consistent in design, the student knows what to expect and can therefore focus better on learning, with a minimum of stress. The predictable framework of my lessons fosters independence and a sense of competence in the student. Having received training and practice in a variety of techniques, I am able to choose the best approach or combination of approaches for each student. My love of words and language permeates my teaching and writing.

I feel fortunate to have found a way to combine my knowledge as a reading specialist with a love of writing, to create a variety of materials for children who are taking their first steps on the pathway to literacy. ********** Most of my products are for use in the primary grades K-2. Some extend into the intermediate grades. Whenever possible, my materials are aligned with the Common Core State Standards. Formats include worksheets, leveled readers, games, booklets, posters, and signs. **********Customers can always expect high quality, easy-to-use products with detailed instructions, teaching tips, and answer keys. *********** Besides being a reading tutor, I am a wife, mother, stepmother, step-grandmother, knitter, reader, and lover of horses, dogs, and cats.
