TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Hello Fellow Teacher! I currently teach sheltered English 1, ELD 2, and English 3 at a high school that belongs to one of the nation's top 17 school districts. Formerly, I was a 7th Grade English Language Arts teacher at a low SES school in the city of Bell, CA. I am a former Teach For America corps member and have been teaching since 2010. I have a background in teaching science, as well as, English, so I have a strong understanding of informational text and its importance. My students are diverse in their ability levels, so I scaffold the heck out of everything. At my former school, I was the head of my school's English department. I am looking forward to developing a writing system that all content areas can use. Look out for products that coincide with high school level text!

MY TEACHING STYLE

Learning should be rigorous and fun! I am a staunch supporter of scaffolding instruction so that anyone can reach the highest levels of thinking. It is only when students master higher level thinking that they truly fall in love with learning. Once again, scaffolding benefits all students (including all special student groups)!!!
