I came into teachings as a second career. Before becoming a teacher, I worked with adolescents in a state residential setting.
My teaching style starts with an atmosphere of warmth and respect. I facilitate opportunities enabling students to develop as intellectual sense makers.
District Unsung Hero, Civic Club Teacher of the Year finalist two times. I have been voted most optimistic, "Cup Half Full" award by my fellow teachers multiple times.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Urban Learning as well as a Masters of Science in Educational technology. I continue to take classes to improve my understanding of the learning process and to grow as an educator.
I have written many successfully funded grants to bring technology and expository reading into the classroom. Over the past several years I have volunteered to tutor high school seniors and adults in essay, resume, and proposal writing.
