I am a private art and creative writing instructor. I have worked with both children and adults. At the age of six I was selected for a gifted and talented summer arts program called "Art Start" and was the youngest participant in an accelerated intensive studio art workshop. This early influence brought me to an early understanding of my innate creative talent. Life on Long Island provided me with much creative inspiration, and she continued to excel in art and writing throughout my years in school. I graduated from Northport High School and went on to study English and Fine Arts at Sweet Briar College in Virginia. I went on to study painting at New York's School of Visual Arts. I began writing in my early twenties and wrote theatre & art criticism, short story, sitcom and screenplays. I wrote art criticism for her school paper and was hired by Paramount to write a short film script for the Wayne’s World attraction at Paramount Parks which was produced with Saturday Nite Live actor Mike Meyer starring as “Wayne”. I was offered a writing Fellowship at The Virginia Center for the Creative Arts in Mt. San Angelo, Virginia where I wrote my first comedic speculative screenplay "Natural Hazards", and subsequently a speculative Seinfeld teleplay episode titled "The Miracle" which was read and covered by Seinfeld staff. My scripts were praised for their originality and commercial potential, and Maria continued to explore her writing career, while also pursuing an international career in sales, marketing, branding and executive search. I am currently writing my first novel which will be out in 2013.
