I have taught all subjects in the early primary grades, and taught English literature, writing and study skills to Middle, HS. and college students. I was employed as a Reading Specialist and owned, administrated and taught at my own Montessori Pre-K School. I also tutored in reading and math and assessed Home School students for their state requirements. I also taught students using my own reading methods and those I learned in the certified Lindamood-Bell Program Taught Study Skills to Adults Returning to College at Phila. Community College, Phila. Art Institute and Gwenydd-Mercy College. Taught English Composition classes part-time at Temple University. Worked as Reading, Writing and Study Skills tutor at the University of Pa. I am now a professional artist and musician. I co-founded the Roslyn Montessori Pre-K School and later the Gold Star Learning Center, another Montessori School. I worked ten years at the Gladwyne Montessori School as their Reading Specialist for their Kindergarten and Elementary students. I tutored students having difficulty learning to read and write at my leaning center during the period that I was teaching.
I have an eclectic teaching style which includes teaching students to use their left and rights side brains. In every lessons I try to include sequential, referential, locational and informational skills including memorization and understanding of the text, poem, etc. As a follow-up I always include a creative activity based on writing, music or art from the information learned from the text or poem. I encourage students to be independent in their research and finished product. I also try to build-up self confidence, especially when they are having difficulties. Adding fun activities and being dramatic in presentations was always important too.
I recently have received awards for my art when I entered juried competitions.
