I have moved to Salt Lake City from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. While living in Pittsburgh I attended Saint Vincent College and Seminary for my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Instruction, as well as, my Masters of Science in Curriculum and Instruction. My education through Saint Vincent College has prepared me to be an outstanding teacher. I spent a year student teaching in first and fourth grade. I also attended several workshops and seminars by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. While working on my Masters I worked as a Group Supervisor of a Keystone STARS level 2 school. Here is where I gained the experience of working with younger children in the preschool setting. I also learned how to manage staff, plan successful curriculum, and assess developmentally appropriate standards. The following year I worked as a Lead Teacher in a Keystone STARS level 4 preschool. Here is where I gained experience in teaching children ages 3-5. I also learned how to effectively communicate with parents, plan differentiated instruction for multiple types of intelligences, and how to design a classroom using a preschool environmental rating scale.
My teaching style varius throughout my instruction. I am a strong believer of doing is learning through the methodologies of John Dewey. I also believe interest yields intellect, all of my products are designed to gain the interests of each and every student to gain the most educational experiences for all!
BS in Elementary Instruction MS in Curriculum and Instruction
I attended Saint Vincent College in Latrobe PA for my undergrad in Elementary Instruction. I received my certification from the Pennsylvania State Education Department in June of 2010 in k-6 instruction. During my time spend in Saint Vincent's Education program I developed the necessary tools and education needed to teach and instill a love of knowledge to any student at any level. Saint Vincent has prepared me for an inclusionary classroom by providing me with 10 credits of special education classes. Saint Vincent's Education Program also taught me the importance of technology in the classroom. A large portion of my grades was attributed to providing appropriate technological instruction in my lesson plans. I graduated with a MS in Curriculum and Instruction. My masters program focuses on the development and implementation of new curriculum in schools. These classes have prepared me to provide quality forms of instruction as well as appropriate methods of assessing student's growth and knowledge.
I am originally from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. I have just recently moved to Salt Lake City to teach in a private Catholic school in the heart of down town. I have been working with preschool aged students for the past two years and this is my first year teaching kindergarten.
