TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been a teacher since 2000. I co-taught a ninth grade humanities class with a Language Arts teacher early in my career. I taught AP European History for 10 years. For the past four years I have been an AP Government and Politics teacher. I also teach a Blended (part of the class is online, part is face to face) Government, Politics, and Economics class. I am our high school Social Studies Department Chair.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Variety is the spice of life. Lecture, group collaboration, online discussions, and many, many other teaching and learning methods help students understand the content. I try to make the material relevant to students and expect them to apply their knowledge to solve realistic problems. I value student creativity.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Our high school chapter of the National Honor Society honors one teacher each year with the Faculty Recognition Award. I was presented with the award in 2011 and 2012.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from Arizona State University. I earned a Juris Doctor degree from Capital University Law School. I earned a Master of Education degree from Ohio State University.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I worked as General Counsel for a medium sized retailer before I decided to become a teacher. Teaching is even better than I thought it would be. I cannot think of doing anything else.

Teachers Pay Teachers

Teachers Pay Teachers is an online marketplace where teachers buy and sell original educational materials.
