She was the 2011 grant recipient for the Program of Mathematics Study and Active Professionalism Grant from NCTM (National Council of Teachers of Mathematics). She has also been published in a college textbook and professional journals, including Mathematics Teaching in the Middle School and Summing Up.
She has earned a a Master’s degree in Mathematics Teaching and Leadership from the University of Arizona’s College of Science, as well as a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Education, an Elementary Teaching Certificate for grades K-8 with a Mathematics Specialist and SEI endorsements. Also, possesses a Secondary Certificate in Mathematics.
In addition to being a member of NCTM, she also is an active member in Tucson Teachers’ Circle, ATI (Arizona Teaching Initiative), WME (Women and Mathematics Education) and TODOS (Mathematics for All).
