I have been teaching for over 30 years. For the first nine years of my career, I taught in a self-contained K-1 special education class. I then moved to pre-first for the next ten years. When the pre-first program was eliminated in my district, I made the big move to 5th and 6th grade. I remained at the intermediate level for another ten years until 2011, when I moved back to primary and began to teach all-day kindergarten. It was a fresh beginning as I had given all my primary materials away! I never thought I'd have the opportunity to return to my first love. I really feel like I'm "back home" again!
I believe in "hands-on" learning whenever possible. I love to incorporate songs and rhymes to help keep the children actively involved.
