My 30 years of teaching has taken me to four states, one foreign country, and across many grade levels. I have spent at least two years in each grade level, although most of my experience has been in grades 3-5. I have served a variety of students and families from every economic level. I particularly enjoy recognizing and celebrating student cultures and diversity. Along the way I've picked up a teeny bit of Arabic and a little Spanish. :)
ENGAGEMENT is the name of the game on Team Goude! We move, we discuss, we pair, we share, we connect, we bond, we problem solve, and we learn how to navigate relationships. TEAM defines my classroom community framework. Students need opportunities to work together toward common goals as well as recognize and celebrate individual strengths, gifts, and talents. Leadership opportunities abound on Team Goude. We really are good stuff!!
In 1998 I received my National Board for Professional Teaching Standards license as a Middle Childhood Generalist. As part of the support/mentor program in my county, I offered mini-workshops focused on the various writing styles required for NBPTS. I recertified in 2008.
