TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching for 28 years in public schools. I am a published songwriter and an author of children's stories.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I like to do class projects on different subjects especially in Social Studies. I like to do fun things with my class even amidst the testing flurry we are all going through right now.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I am a fellow of the Indiana Writing Project from Ball State University.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

As a child, I had nuns for teachers that really didn't like children or teaching children. I decided I would grow up to be a teacher who loved children. There were 13 children in my family. I was the first one to go to college, and I became a teacher. Later, I got my masters degree and continued to study to make myself the best teacher I could be. I try not to forget my pledge to love my students and show them respect and kindness.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

My family loves to sing. I have been writing songs since college and writing children's stories since I had my first child some 30 years ago. Some of my songs have been published, but I am still waiting for my first children's book to find a publisher. I am hoping that 2013 will be the year that my young adult novel, Call Me Lizzy, gets published. I am also getting close to retirement, so I will have more time to write, do teaching projects for TPC, and love on my three granddaughters.
