I am a National Board Certified Teacher with a Masters degree in elementary education. I also have a Reading Certificate for grades K-12. I have been teaching for 19.5 years, and 17 of those years I taught kindergarten. I am currently teaching kindergarten, and I plan to teach kindergarten for years to come.
I would consider my teaching style very active and hands on. As a teacher, I facilitate, and I tell my students to learn by doing. I try to meet the needs and learning styles of every student.
I have won Northeast Elementary teacher of the year two times. I have also won the regional Golden Apple Teacher of the year.
As a child, I attended Newton Municipal School District. Once I graduated, I went to Mississippi State University to pursue my degree in elementary education, and I earned my Reading Certificate for Grades K-12. I later earned my Masters, and I became National Board Certified.
I am married to my wonderful husband Chad, and we have two children named Brett (18) and Landry (14). Chad and I are both educators and enjoy what we do. While I have to take care of my children, during my free time, I am always researching ways to make myself a better teacher.
