I currently am in my sixth year as an intervention specialist. I currently teach special education in the 4th and 5th grades. For the past five years, I co-taught in a middle school in the 6th grade in language arts and math classes. I also taught a resource period that focused on reading, math, and organizational skills. I also taught an intervention group of students in which I teach organizational skills.
I like to be very visual when I present materials to students. I like to focus on foundation skills since those are areas students with special needs are usually lacking in. I also love incorporating hands-on activities as much as possible!
I am currently on the Building Leadership Team (BLT). When I was at the middle school, I was the department coordinator for special education. I also am on many leadership committees within my district that deal with RTI and special education.
My undergrad degree is Intervention Specialist Mild/Moderate. I am currently working on my masters in Early Childhood Special Education. In a few years I would like to teach preschool!
