I am a Visual Art teacher in an elementary school. I have been teaching K-5 students art for the last 18 years. Check out my art instructional videos, lessons from my classroom, and my own personal artwork at https://linktr.ee/masterpiece_momma .
I start off class with a brief introduction to an artist or technique. Each lesson includes one or two new vocabulary words that are from the Georgia Performance Standards for Visual Art. Most of class is spent doing an art-making activity that correlates to our topic for the day. I like each child to add their own spin on the topic, so often the projects do not turn out as carbon copies of my example, which is great! I often incorporate other classroom disciplines into my lessons such as science, math, writing, or geography.

Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art Education, University of Georgia, 2002 Master of Art Education, University of Georgia, 2006
I studied art abroad in Cortona, Italy in 2001 and in Bayeux, France in 2004. I have been to quite a few countries around the world and love to travel! Learning about other cultures and places is a passion of mine. I am a photographer, painter, and lover of art history.
