I graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. After graduating, I taught a 3rd/4th grade multi-age classroom for three years in a Title 1 school in South Milwaukee, Wisconsin where I taught across all subject areas. On a mission to find some warmer weather, my husband and I moved down to Nashville, Tennessee where I taught for two years as a 5th grade teacher, and am currently working as the Math Coach of an elementary school. I a total of 5 years of experience in the classroom working directly with students and now I work with both teachers and students in small group and whole group settings so I have experience in a variety of different settings.
I have wanted to be a teacher since I was in first grade and because of this, I am an enthusiastic, creative and innovative teacher who is always looking for new ways to keep students engaged. As a math coach I am laser-focused on standards and guide my planning and work based on the standards and assessment of these standards.
I recently published a Math Children's Book titled, Carnival Counting and I also have a podcast for parents on how to help their children with math at home. I am a member of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics. I also contributed to a Problem Solvers article published in NCTM's Teaching Children Mathematics Magazine in May 2016. Additionally, I participated in the Core Math Project, a collaboration between the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and the School District of South Milwaukee. This was a 3-year program to train teachers on best practice instruction as well as unpacking the standards. I also received a certificate in Student Centered Coaching (Math Certificate) through the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
I graduated from Wauwatosa West High School and then continued on to graduate from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education. I also have a certificate in Student-Centered Coaching (math focus) from UW-Madison.
In addition to being a math coach, I love dancing and try to incorporate movement into my classroom whenever possible. I love working on my podcast and writing children's books. I also enjoy baking, wedding planning, hanging out with my husband, our two children and our dog Annabelle, running and scrapbooking!
