TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I've loved math from the time I was in kindergarten figuring out all the patterns hidden among the digits. As I entered college, my father pestered me to try tutoring, but I never felt good enough. Who would want to listen to me ramble on about how much I enjoy numbers and abstract concepts? Then the math department insisted all its majors sign up for a tutoring list to practice and improve. I received my first call and have been working with students of all ages ever since! From there the university recommended me to Sylvan Learning Center when they called asking for a math instructor. I utilized this experience to later on move to Mathnasium where I became the Director of Training over three campuses and later moved on to be the Center Director of another. When this wasn't enough, I began my own tutoring business. Since then I've continued that tutoring business and have picked up teaching 6th through 12th grade at a private school where I head up their secondary math program. It's a wonderful life where I get to do what I love every day!

MY TEACHING STYLE

I choose to employ humor in the classroom and one-on-one to minimize the fear of an already intimidating subject. I love to tell stories to get students engaged and then slip the math in where they least expect it. Through this method I can get to know kids individually and develop a mutual respect in order to truly impact their lives. I want students to see that I care for them which is why I do what I do.
