TEACHING EXPERIENCE

13 years teaching, 8 years tutoring

MY TEACHING STYLE

I have developed a teaching routine called the 3-1-1 Method. I believe in teaching 3 solid lessons per week which take up days Monday through Wednesday. Then I devote one day of integrating all 3 lessons by using a board session, or jeopardy session, or a group activity. The Thursday then prepares all of my classes for their weekly Friday quiz. I NEVER HAVE CHAPTER QUIZZES! I believe that a chapter quiz inadvertently tells the student that the previous material will never be tested again. This is how my quizzes are designed. 25% of the material on the quiz is assessed from that week's lessons and 75% of the material assesses the previous 3-5 weeks. Constant review will allow for mastery and students always know what is on a quiz, therefore resulting in less time spent discussing what to prepare for. STUDENTS LOVE THIS SYSTEM. TRY IT AND YOU WILL SEE THE RESULTS!
