TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Music Teacher – Collier County Public Schools: August 1993 - Present As a music teacher for two decades, I have taught more than 5,000 students. The skills necessary to run a successful music program are diverse and include: • Expert knowledge of subject matter pertaining to world cultures, history, instruments, and music theory. • Community and School Event Planning / Organizing • Public Speaking • Fund Raising • Performance / Production – Ensembles, Drama, Music Videos • Team Building • Public Relations Business Owner – www.Curriculalala.com August 2008 - Present Combining my skill as a composer and my talent as a veteran teacher, I created educational animated music videos that teach specific learning targets. These music video series are used by thousands of students nationwide and have won the coveted “Teacher Choice” award from Learning Magazine. These programs are designed through research based learning strategies and are comprehensive in scope, and methodical in the application. Skills integral of the creation and marketing of my educational company include: BACKGROUND HIGHLIGHTS • Managing various talents for hire such as educational consultants, animators, artists, graphic designers, web designer, videographers, and DVD layout and authoring • Creative Producer… from think-tank, to storyboard, to working animation, to integration into a video series • Marketing through the internet, social media, educational magazines, and educational conferences • Accounting • Pilot Studies • Grant Writing Performer / Entertainer Birth to Present I received my Bachelor’s in Classical and Jazz Guitar Performance at Florida Atlantic University. I have entertained audiences throughout the state of Florida, in such venues as the Naples Philharmonic, Barbara B. Mann Hall, the Gusman Center in Miami, the Boca Raton Performing Arts Center, the Sugden Community Center, and others. Some of the more note-worthy professionals I have had the privilege to accompany on stage are Mel Torme’, Doc Sevrenson, Rich Little, and the Philadelphia String Quartet. I played guitar and sang in the vocal-jazz group “Java” with Zeb Billings, Stu Shelton, and Phil Roldan, which received wide appeal from audiences all over South West Florida as well as the pop-rock group “Work In Progress” for which I was a founding member. Currently, I play and sing in a six-piece band called “Mixed Nuts” which, as the name might suggest, plays a mixed repertoire of rock, pop, jazz, Latin, reggae, funk, disco, country, and more…

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Composing and arranging and overall creativity is my greatest strength. After receiving a Master’s in Composition, Arranging, and Studio Jazz Writing from the University of Miami under the tutelage of Grammy-nominated composer Gary Lindsay, I worked professionally, composing music jingles, jock-shouts, station ID’s, lyrics, slogans, and ad-copy for radio and television. Some notable accomplishments in this area include original songs and underscores for the Golden Apple T.V. shows in Collier and in Jacksonville Counties, music for a television pilot called Club Golf for Kids currently being test-marketed, an original three-part choral selection with piano accompaniment sung by 600 students in the All-County Choral Festival, co-produced a Vocal-Jazz/Pop album with Zeb Billings, and multi Grammy-award winner Jimmy Dale (Sonny and Cher show, Smothers Brothers Show); and I am the creator and CEO of an award-winning educational multi-media set of programs for young learners called Word Dogs™ which can be purchased through my online company @ www.curriculalala.com I am a team player, able to lead, motivate and develop successful campaigns. I am adept at building powerful working relationships with diverse range of vendors and clientele.
