MY TEACHING STYLE

Besides the obvious of modeling, guided practice and the push towards independence, when teaching students with disabilities or who are English Language Learners, I always look for ways to make the material real-world applicable. This is important because it helps the students become truly invested in the material and find importance of the skill or task. I strive to utilize a variety of teaching strategies, design creative (out of the box) lessons that incorporate various levels of Bloom’s taxonomy, develop educational games and movement breaks, and essentially, get students excited about learning while providing appropriate accommodations for everyone! As Socrates once said, “I cannot teach anybody anything, I can only make them think.”
