As a National Board Certified and renewed WLOE teacher, I enjoyed the challenge of adapting materials to provide Comprehensible Input in my classroom. This is my twentiest year in the classroom, teaching mainly high school, but having experience in middle school, elementary and adult learner classrooms has diversified my knowledge of different learners. I currently work in Vancouver, WA, but have worked in the mid west and in rural, urban and suburban school districts.
My teaching is student centered, and I believe in creating a class culture that makes students comfortable. (We have to keep the affect filters down for true L2 acquisition!) Student voice is important, and materials should be respectful of diverse learners and their interests. I believe in having materials that are specific to our goals: clearly understood and attainable for students.
