I began teaching private cello lessons when I was 15 years-old. I have taught in a school setting since 2009, mostly as an orchestra teacher. I currently teach at the Elementary Level--General Music K-6, Orchestra, and Choir. I also teach at the Kodály Certification Course at Brigham Young University in the summer.
I am a Kodàly-trained musician, who searches for best-practice methods of teaching music to others.
2015 Outstanding Elementary Music Educator from the Beverly Taylor Sorenson Legacy Foundation. Guest Student Conductor for the 2014 InterMuse Participant Choir. 2011 Philosophy Student of the Year, Utah Valley University.
B.S. in Music and B.S. in Philosophy from Utah Valley University. M.Mus.Ed. with a Kodály Emphasis from Holy Names University. Kodály Certification Levels I, II, III from the InterMuse Academy of Musicianship and Pedagogy at Brigham Young University. I have Presented research for the Utah Fellowship of Kodály Specialists (UFOLKS) Workshop Series, the 19th Annual Utah Suzuki Convention, and the Organization of American Kodály Educators (OAKE) National Convention.
I live with my wife--a Kodály Certified concert violinist--and daughter.
