My passions have always been art and teaching. From the time I was 4 years old, I knew I would grow up to be an artist. My career as an artist has been extremely rewarding. I love teaching and have taught many people of all ages skills such as photography, videography, editing, illustration, drawing, motion graphics, graphic design, and 3D animation. My true love is illustrating and creating educational materials for children. This is what truly makes me happy and excited to get to work each day. After all, I get to doodle and create awesome clipart all day. Who wouldn't be excited?!
According to the several online "Teaching Style" quizzes I have taken, I am considered to have a "Facilitator" style of teaching. I've never really thought about my teaching style before and am just a kind of go-with-the-flow kind of guy. I try my best to be the kind of teacher that my students can approach and ask any question. I will usually work with my students to give them hints and challenge them to answer their own questions through critical thinking. I like to stretch my students' creativity and assist them in breaking down barriers and making breakthroughs in their work. My teaching style tends to take time, patience, and commitment. However, it is worth every minute because my students always come back to me years later to thank me for being their mentor. Nothing is more rewarding than that.
I am a nine-time nominated, two-time Emmy Award-winning artist. I have also won numerous Telly Awards and PRSA Awards over the course of my career. ⬅ This seems ultra-braggy...I promise I'm really not that kind of guy. I did get the Perfect Attendance Award in the 3rd grade though...no big deal or anything...
I am a graduate of the Art Institute of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of Science degree in Animation
When it gets down to it, I'm just a dad who homeschools my two awesome and rambunctious boys. My life revolves around my boys and my family. I get pure joy in watching them learn and grow into amazing young men. I have also dedicated my free time to being their Cub Scout leader and teaching the boys in my den to be good young men. I really couldn't be more proud of it! I must also admit, that none of this would be possible without the love and support of my incredible wife.
