I've been teaching since 2000 and it's been a crazy ride, thanks to my husband's career. In addition to homeschooling my own children one year (5th and 7th grades), I've taught five grade levels (K-4), in ten different schools, in four school districts, in three states. That's a lot of purging and packing up classrooms! It hasn't been easy changing schools and starting over that many times, but a huge perk of my experience is that I've worked with innumerable amazing teachers from different backgrounds along the way.
Currently, as a first grade teacher, a lot of my teaching is presented demonstration style followed by independent or small group practice. My end goal with ALL students is to help them become problem solvers who can think for themselves and pursue knowledge by choice. If I can inspire them to love books and reading as much a I do, that's an additional bonus.

I received my BS in Elementary Education from William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri. I also took the opportunity to be a part of the British Teacher Education Program offered by WJC, and spent four weeks observing and participating in a British primary school classroom and educational seminars before graduating.
When not teaching, I spend the majority of time with my husband and two teenagers. I look forward to our regular movie nights, s'mores over the fire pit, and working around the house. We are blessed to live on 7 acres down a mile-long gravel road. I love sitting on the front porch with a good book, big cup of coffee and 90s music.
