I taught my first year in Bryan, Texas. I am currently living in Austin where I now work as a Project Coordinator for a User Experience company called Slide UX.
I honestly cannot pinpoint my exact teaching style, but I can tell you my teaching philosophy: fairness does not always mean equality. What this means is that in a classroom, every single child learns differently from one another. What works for this student, may not work for another. While true differentiation is simply impossible for ONE teacher to accomplish in a classroom of 20-30 students, it should always remain a goal. A teacher's teaching style must be flexible to meet the needs of each student to offer an fair opportunity for that child to learn, but equality in the aspect of learning can never be guaranteed.
Creating a classroom full of lovers of reading was more awarding than a trophy or certificate will ever be.
Graduated in 2012 from Texas A&M University with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in 4-8 Reading/Language Arts and Social Studies. My additional certifications include: Generalist EC-6, ESL, and Gifted/Talent.
I enjoy creating products for Teachers Pay Teachers in my spare time, especially now that I am currently not teaching. I remember the countless late nights I dedicated to creating that worksheet or activity tailored perfectly to my students or to the curriculum, so this gives me a chance to lighten the loads of others by sharing my work.
