This will be my 9th year teaching Defense Against the Illiterate Arts, or English Language Arts and Reading, as SOME people may refer to it. I enjoy designing lessons and activities that engage and empower my students to become better human beings.
I love to use music, technology, hands-on activities, and creativity in the classroom. On any given day, you may find me dressed like a Greek goddess, a beatnik, or a cashier at McGordon's...my classroom "restaurant." My campus is big on student engagement and empowerment, so that is always something I keep in mind when designing lessons. I also love learning from others and working together with my fellow educators and creatives.
Teacher of the Year, 2012
I graduated Cum Laude from Texas Tech University with a degree in advertising and a minor in English. I then completed my education through an alternative certification program! I spent 4 years teaching at MY old junior high, and now I'm enjoying my 5th year at my current school for a total of 9 years.
I am also the Prime Mover and Shaker behind Teachers Who Design, a co-op of design-minded teachers. www.teacherswhodesign.com
