In terms of elementary mathematics... I believe in a constructivist design and pedagogy, developmentally appropriate curriculum, and research-base. I lean heavily on the work of Jo Boaler, Dan Meyer (Stanford University) and Deborah Ball (University of MIchigan).

I'm currently a K-8 Math Specialist currently based in California, but will be moving to Dubai in August, 2014. I've spent 15 years in the classroom, teaching at a variety of grade levels. My background and experiences focus on ‘how’ children think about mathematics, specifically using developmentally appropriate materials to engage students and build conceptual understanding. My pedagogical approach includes components of the constructivist theory, Cognitively Guided Instruction, as well as the incorporation of the CCSS Mathematical Practices.
