Use these sound boxes to help students build phonological awareness by segmenting words into sounds or syllables.
1. Pronounce the word slowly
2. Have the child say the word.
3. Have the child count the number of phonemes in the word.
This is an easy activity to use as a center. Students stretch out the words then sort them into the Real Words or Nonsense Words hearts. After sorting the words they can record them on the included sheet to provide accountability.
