TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I've been teaching elementary school for six years. I student taught second grade and spent all my employed years teaching 5th grade. I've taught with two other teachers (team teaching) where I was responsible for science and social studies and the other four years have been teaching all subjects.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I like to offer direct instruction in every lesson that I do followed by guided instruction and independent work. I also love to have my students work in partners and complete authentic tasks to represent their learning. I incorporate technology the best that I can in all my lessons.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Awarded Science Grant for 'big books" to use in integration (2010) "Exceeds Expected Growth" (NC) in Science (2011-2013)

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I have a bachelors degree in Elementary Education from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte and a minor in Psychology. I also hold a Master's of Education from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
