TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I've taught English across Year 9-12 (both VCAL and VCE) for 6 years, and have assessed the written section of the VCAA GAT for two years. I've also taught Humanities, Civics, and History for 6 years from Years 7 to 10. I built up VCE Global Politics at my school, and have been teaching it since 2015. I teach Year 11 and 12 Global Politics, and also a Year 10 Elective which integrates key knowledge and skill from the Victorian Curriculum, and aims to prepare students for further study into VCE. I've also written curriculum for TSSM, and have assessed the year 12 Politics exam

MY TEACHING STYLE

While I love to use a visual every session (a PowerPoint or Prezi), I try to avoid teacher-focused classes where I am simply delivering information to the students. I believe that learning should be collaborative and student-focused, and create resources to reflect this. I like to get my students, particularly in VCE, creating their own notes, resources, and revision tables and to work collaboratively as much as possible using programs such as Google Docs and Padlet.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I graduated from Catholic Ladies College in 2004, and went on to complete a Bachelor of Arts (English/Politics majors, minor in Sociology) at Latrobe University in 2008. After working as a Copy Writer and Editor, I returned to Melbourne from living and working in London to complete my Graduate Diploma of Education at Monash University 2011. In 2013 I started a Masters in International Baccalaureate at Melbourne University.
