I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of North Texas, a Texas Generalist Teaching certification, and a Texas ESL Generalist Teaching certification. I taught kindergarten for three years in Texas at the elementary school that I attended and I am now in my second year teaching transitional kindergarten in San Francisco!
My personal philosophy of education incorporates the characteristics of progressiveness and constructivism which challenges students to think critically and utilize problem solving strategies. I believe in a community of scholars and not just a scholar of one. I want students to learn from one another and not just rely on me for all the answers. In my teaching experience, my goals have been geared toward the empowerment of children. I have a strong passion to educate young minds and help them develop into well-rounded, responsible, and successful individuals.
Pioneered Transitional Kindergarten for San Francisco Unified School District, Transitional Kindergarten Team Leader in SF, Team Leader at my school, invited to participate in the Northern California Transitional Kindergarten Conference
I knew from an early age that I wanted to be a teacher. It is my passion and I truly LOVE what I do!
My husband and I are originally from Texas, but recently moved out to San Francisco for his job. We are loving our new California life! Back in Texas, my family has 5 dogs; 4 of them being pugs. I LOVE PUGS! Our class pet in our room is a stuffed pug named Oscar and I'm slowly converting all my students into pug lovers as well ;)
