I have sixteen years in education. I taught first grade for five years, second grade for one year, and fourth grade for six years. I have been a media coordinator for the past four years and I serve students in grades kindergarten through fourth grade.
I like to provide meaningful experiences for my students. I try and keep them engaged with hands on activities and centers. I also try and surround them with literacy.
Except for getting teacher of the month every now and then and my graduate degrees I haven't received too many honors or awards. I do feel like parents honor me when they allow me to teach their children. That is awarding in itself.
I have a BA in History from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I then attended East Carolina University to get my K-6 teaching license. I also received my MAed in Reading and Masters in Library Science from East Carolina University.
I have a wonderful husband and a six year old son. Our son keeps us young, but tired. This July I will be five years out from breast cancer.
