TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am currently in my 10th year of teaching math. I have taught 6th grade mathematics, 8th grade Algebra I, and I am currently teaching a combination course for accelerated 5th grade students which incorporates the CCSS from both 5th and 6th grade into one comprehensive curriculum.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I create a positive and collaborative learning atmosphere by connecting my students to the content and the lessons. I use manipulatives, centers, UDL menus, technology, pop culture, and student interests to make lessons more engaging. I use discovery lessons, and I teach the meaning behind the math. My students often work collaboratively to discuss problems, come to solutions, and correct misconceptions.
