TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have taught kindergarten for 13 years in a Title 1 and SAGE funded school. We have an 80% poverty rate and a wide range of cultures at our school. I work with K-5 students during the summer for a variety of hands on learning classes. I work at homework help after school during the school year, as well as plan many school functions for students and family to attend. I am vice president of our Parent Teacher Organization. I have my masters + 15 credits in education. I enjoy my job and look forward to it every day! Summers are too long for me:)

MY TEACHING STYLE

I believe in hands on teaching. I tried my best to make my daily lessons come to life for my students. I run a safe, but challenging classroom environment. I run a balanced literacy approach and meet my students needs at their indivdual levels. I love to use small group and large group teaching approaches. I enjoy bringing content subjects into our daily reading, writing, and math lessons. I love to have fun with my students and keep them movtivated to come to school each day.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I have been nominated for the Golden Apple Teacher Awards several time. I chose not to pursue the award. I am requested by several families each year. This means so much to me.
