I have taught PreK, 3rd, and 5th grade throughout my teaching career and hold teaching endorsements in science, language arts, social studies, and middle school. Additionally, I hold a masters degree in educational technology and have a K-12 technology specialist license.
As I continue to grow professionally, I have become inspired by the challenge of stimulating students who are not engaged in their learning, cannot connect the curriculum with the real world, or see using information they acquire in the classroom in their future. I am driven by a desire to reach and engage these students. The idea of the teacher becoming a partner in the learning process, thus guiding students to discover the meaning within the subject areas, is one I embrace. By implementing project based learning experiences throughout the curriculum, students work cooperatively to solve real-world problems that correlate with the curriculum. In doing this, I have become a facilitator in the learning process while my students became active researchers and participants in their own learning.
