Throughout my classroom experience, I have become aware of the importance of valuing diversity and having a cultural awareness in the classroom. I use this cultural awareness to develop understandings about students in my classroom. I interpret the needs of students in order to teach, respect and care for them as an educator, mentor and role model. I strive to assist each and every students and guide them to success in all aspects of their lives.
Every day, I consider myself so lucky to be surrounded by these impressionable little people that bring a smile to my face. Never before have I experienced a career that is so rewarding with heart felt moments in day to day activity. Whether it’s a light bulb moment for a student or an entire class or the gratification of hearing the students repeat something that you had previously taught them, it’s these small moments that fuel the love of teaching that makes the journey of teaching and learning all the more worthwhile. In every learning experience I implement, I aim to ensure that every student is involved in a rich and meaningful way. I wish to instill a deep understanding of fundamental concepts and ideologies that will build on and strengthen the foundation for the education of young children and assist them in their learning for life. I know that literacy and numeracy skills are central to learning and I aim to design and implement engaging and flexible learning pathways that not only develop these skills they will imprint and stay with individuals for life. I am dedicated to teaching and as every teacher must also have the capacity to learn, my personal philosophy is to learn as much as I can along the way to ameliorate my skillset.

I also rely heavily on inquiry-based learning and guide students through this process in my mentoring. I am well versed in behaviour management theories, liaising with parents and caregivers, and monitoring problems all whilst maintaining a focus of student learning. I understand the importance and value of authentic assessment and how to implement authentic formative and summative assessment tasks. I am passionate about education and I endeavour to be the best educator that I can be, making a difference in the lives of young adolescents in every opportunity I get.
